Mommy and Sayla finally got a night away together this past weekend, even if it was just for a sleep study! Sayla thoroughly enjoyed having me all to herself on our getaway. She has been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, and her pulmonologist wanted to do this particular sleep study to see if her apnea improved with oxygen titration and/or CPAP.
Today, I turned 37, and officially entered into my “late thirties.” So, I’ve decided to do a basic blogger post, and share 37 fun facts about myself. Hahaha, no…I don’t have that many. How about 10 things, since 3 + 7 = 10.
I am a planner by nature, but while taking care of Sayla and all of her medical needs, plans are bound to change, and we have to be flexible. It’s not easy, but we don’t have a choice when there are extraneous factors affecting our plans that are out of our control. Especially right now, in the middle of a pandemic.
Since moving into our home two years ago, I have taken my time in decorating. My goal has been to design each room individually, finish to completion, and stick to a budget. I absolutely love designing my kids’ rooms. Somehow, we got really lucky, and Pax did not decide to climb out of his crib until after he turned three years old this past January! Once that happened, it was his turn to have his own space with a big boy design.
This girl is eleven years old today, and she is still the center of our universe. Every parent wants what is best for their child, and having a special needs child determines every aspect of both my life and her father’s life. She is the reason we currently live in Kentucky (eligible for Medicaid waiver based on disability), and she is the reason we bought a handicap accessible home. She determines the vehicle we drive when she is with us. She determines the jobs we have (or don’t have in my case since I decided staying home was the best choice), and dictates the insurance coverage we have. She affects when and how we travel. She influences even small decisions in our everyday life, but we wouldn’t trade this life for anything! She has brought so much joy to those that know her over the past eleven years! Even though we are celebrating quarantine style, we are making this day all about Sayla!
